Our Community Support Team provides one to one support to elderly Irish people living in or around Southwark.

  • Through our projects we support:
  • Isolated Elderly People
  • People with Substance Misuse Problems
  • People with Mental Health Problems

Our specialist workers support people in practical ways, for example lobbying for Community Care and other services, making arrangements during hospital stays and at discharge. Our Mental Health Worker provides specialist assessment and counselling services to people coping with mental illness.

In partnership with Blackfriars Advice Service, we provide a visiting welfare rights advisor, who provides support on benefits, pension and housing matters.

In addition, our Volunteer Befriending Scheme is well established and with a team of volunteers visiting isolated people and making a real difference to their lives. We are currently developing plans to add a Citizen Advocacy scheme to complement the Befriending service and hope to start delivery in early 2009.
