Get Involved
You can help to improve the special care we deliver to the most vulnerable people in the Irish community of south London by volunteering your time and/or expertise in many different ways.
We need volunteers to befriend our pensioners living at home and those living in care homes. Over 60% of our pensioners live alone and most do not have family living close by so they really value company, be it over the phone or face to face. Our Volunteer Programme offers many opportunities visiting people at home, or taking them out to meet friends, go shopping or just to join in whatever local activities are offered in their locality. One to one support, however small, makes an enormous difference to their lives. We are always looking for people to help out with general administration, particularly around the editing and distribution of our newsletters and leaflets. And fundraising is an ever present dilemma - if you would like to get involved in all things fundraising - please do get in touch. Be it sponsored walks, bake sales or skydiving, we are very grateful for your support. You can volunteer to help out in the day service, helping with refreshments, maybe sharing your expertise with a mobile phone or ipad or flower arranging or knitting or sharing your interests and skills with others. It is very rewarding and a great way of meeting people. We always need extra hands to help at our tea dances, help organising day trips and outings to places of interest and at many social and cultural events throughout the year e.g. Christmas and St Patrick's Day. You can also become a regular donor and if you are a UK tax payer, we can claim 25% on every donation if you tick the gift aid box. Whatever you give, your time, expertise or financial support, your support is very much appreciated. If you would like to get involved or you would like more information, please phone Ben or Liam on 0800 1577783/020 7237 5841. |
